Always a contentious issue
Every tyre is a compromise ie, Wet grip, dry grip, wear rate etc.
So my vote for an all-rounder Track and road.
KUMHO KH31
Priced around £40
Great in the dry equivalent to a toyo tr1 not as sticky as 888's
In the Wet they are outstanding.
My friends Bob's Words " In the wet at Blyton I felt like a driving God overtaking everything"
In the wet at Cadwell today I had a similar experience but maybe not Godlike
What you put in, you'll get back ten fold

Re: Track Tyres
I have a set of worn Yoko A048s. If it's wet I just let everyone overtake me and enjoy the scenery. If it's dry... well after the last track day I did at Abingdon I had a stiff neck for 3 days
They only cost me £100 for the set of 4. I'll be picking up another part-worn set in the next couple of weeks for the same price.
I used to love Hanlkook RS2 but they don't seem to be available now and the RS3 (which are supposed to be even better) aren't being imported

Re: Track Tyres
Tryes I've used
Federal FZ-201 one of the grippest Cut slicks ive every used
Toyo R888 they are grippy but can go off after a while and over heat quite quickly (they are a very old cut slick now)
Federal 595 RSR Great track day tyre in the wet and dry and can also be used as a road tyre
Nankang RS-2R Great fun tyre not as grippy in the dry as the 595 RSR but and i say a big But they are alot cheaper and i think they suit the mx5 since you can get the car to move about.
and as normal talk to Nick at MOT motorsport he's been testing all of these for a few years like my self.
