Some owners with the UK spec MX5 Mk2 NB's are upgrading their centre arm rest to the Mk2.5 version and are also upgrading the electric window switch for the auto feature of the Mk 2.5, this is a quick guide on how to sort the wiring plug to get it working with the Mk2 electrics, this can also be used the other way if needed Mk2 NB into the MK 2.5 NB...
The Roadster we are using for this is a Japanese market Mk 2 NB 1998 V.S Roadster, so there maybe some differences with wire colours between versions?
It is pretty simply but a bit faffy...
You will need ...
1 x electric window switch of choice
1 x small screw driver
1 x long pin
Leave the ignition off for this....
Get your plug connection and using the small screw driver pop the locking in plastic in the centre out and free from the plug and put it somewhere safe...
Now carefully lift the centre up...DO NOT SNAP THEM...
and one by one insert the pin to release the plastic clip that hold the wire connection pin in place, a light pull while the pin is in place...
And work your way through them all one at a time until they are all out...
And then it is a case of just pushing the wire connections back into the right slots again in the plug with the prongs to the top until you hear them click into place until they are all in place in a mirror image of how they were to begin with....
Then click the retaining centre plastic back in place...
And that's it, push the plug home into the electric window switch socket and fix it into the centre arm rest...
Now just For reference...
MK 2 NB wiring to the plug ...
Mk 2 wiring swapped around for the Mk 2.5 electric window switch...
And them both together in a before and after, left is before, right is after..
As is the norm ,any questions please just ask , it's what we are here for..

What you put in, you'll get back ten fold
