Sucked some oil out with oil extraction pump and it is a dark red colour so think I will suck the rest out and fill with new oil, did i read once you recommend not to disturb the filter unless absolutely necessary? Dave.

It looks like it is picking up oil from the tube which is giving a false reading and is different on both sides of the dipstick.

Hi, I am finding it difficult to check the oil level on my Mk1 1.6 auto as when the dip stick is withdrawn after following the check procedure there is not a defined line where the level is. Is this normal or does this indicate the oil needs replacing, the oil does not look too dirty. Dave.
