Re: How much oil do you use to fill an HLA after cleaning it?
Thanks M-M! Well I am doing the cam seals and CAS o-ring along with timing belt, waterpump, rad and hoses. Quite a big job so not much more effort to do the HLAs. I put some wynns HLA additive in a while back and the HLA tick is not terrible. TLDR: My OCD wants totally clean HLAs. By half fill, can ...

How much oil do you use to fill an HLA after cleaning it?
Hi all, I am removing the HLAs to give them a clean and then they need priming with oil before being put back in the engine. However, I gather that if I overfill them the valves can be held slightly open, leading to no compression and so the car won't start. So can anyone give me some practical tips...

Re: Mk1 Various Mazda Immobiliser Fitments Over Time
I have a 1.8 '95 Uk spec (manual gearbox, windows and steering!) Mx5 with the button type fob immobilizer. That can be removed very easily if needed, as it as been added here not at the factory. I have a ‘95 U.K. Mk1 with exactly the same type of under-dash button immobiliser. I only have 1 button ...

Re: Brake Stripdown and rebuild WITH PICTURES
Hi Wayne, thanks for the guide. I have hit a snag with the rear calipers though, in that the piston wind back grub screw doesn't retract the pistons? It's the same on both sides. The rim of the piston looks pretty old and rusty, but trying to peek under the piston rubber dust cover wasn't conclusive...

Re: Hello!
Not sure, but Mark at Autobrite would let you know. Not sure if I'm allowed to plug another forum here, but imagine a world or detailing and you're not far off. Mahoosively impressed with repel though. Beads roll at 25mph, and above 35 mph screen stays totally clear. Night driving, in the rain, 'san...

Re: Hello!
Cheers! Love your build! Hope to see you at Prescott one day. (I haven't yet got into hill climbing, but having been there a good few times, I very much want to! Might start next year, as work is sending me away for large chunks of this year.

Re: Hello!
Thanks Wayne, I saw the brake guide; looks great. I'll do as you say. I have done about 10 cars worth of discs and pads in my time, but not that much Jap stuff. I do love the way these cars are engineered. Little things like the way the bolt heads have skirts on them so the socket or spanner engages...

Hello!
Hi everyone! I just thought I'd pop on over after Wayne kindly gave me some rain rail advice (top bloke - thanks!) So, I bought a uk Mk1 1.8 poverty spec with get fit windows, no air con or PAS, (just wanted less to go wrong) in classic red. 77,000 miles, 2 owners, 17 stamps in the book! However, ra...
