Immobilisers

Come and see what our Jon is up to, with his electric gizmos that his mind and hands mould into magic little boxes of tricks, he gets bored very easily, so if you have an idea that you can throw at him, all the better for him to play with ;0)

Immobilisers

Postby binarypunk » Wed Feb 05, 2014 10:16 pm

A suggestion to be able to bypass or emulate a working immobiliser, to fix a broken one.

Here is a place to dump the contents of your brain and what you know so I can work out what is possible and not.

Not possible:
1) fixing an aftermarket one...just needs taking out and reconnecting the original wiring, or fitting a new one.
2) Immobilisers/alarms that are part of the ECU itself...which cars have these please?

Potentially possible:
Immobiliser modules separate to the ECU...
Questions about this:
How are they connected? What does the actual immobilisation, the module or the ECU?
Are they paired by coding the ECU or the module or both?
What setups are on what cars?
Any source for wiring diagrams or circuits?
Got any spares...even broken ones?
Anything else you know...

All UK Mk2 onwards and later Mk1. I'm not sure when they started fitting them. Possibly on the 94 facelift.

Lucas is a UK company so is it just a bolted-on aftermarket system that UK dealers added or is it specific to these cars?

I can't find any reference to it in the factory manuals...
