Went into Tescos and they have REDEX engine oil on special offer but maybe only in some stores. Only worth picking up if you are in store for other stuff as it may not be on offer at your local store.
They have 10W/40 semi for the MK1, Mk2 and Mk2.5 1.6, 5W/40 synthetic, 5W30 all synthetic in A5/B5 for Mk2.5 1.8, Mk3 and Mk4, also 5W/30 grades for VW long drain intervals, another for Vauxhal BMW long drain and a medium ash oil as well.
I got it for £4 for a two litre tub so bought a good few tubs of various grades.
As advised the price may not be the same in your local store.
It appears from the date code script on the tubs to be Carlube oil in the tub.
