Temp gauge rad cap.....

Postby Mazda Mender » Wed Aug 19, 2015 6:56 am

Just ordered one of these, it came up while searching for other things, unsure if it is any good, but my thinking is..... when doing water pumps, rad changes or anything to do with the cooling system, you need to run up to temp to make sure there are no air pockets, the fan kicks in as should be, leaks, stat etc so while you are running you are back and forth checking the temp gauge on the dial cluster, will this make it so you can just watch this?

We will see, i am sure if it does work others will be able to find it useful to, handy for the track guys. :handgestures-thumbup:

This turned up today to try...the logic is for when you are doing a pump and belts or rad etc....you just remove your rad cap and this fits straight in its place, and is fitted with a true working water temp gauge, so you can watch the temp at the bay where you are working rather than moving to check the half dummy false gauge fitted to the roadsters and is good for the Mk1 NA's from 1989 up to the Mk2.5 NB's 2005.
it works great and can see in the pics that it reached correct temp for the fan to kick in, in my case I will be using it and removing for the next one that needs repairing but can be left in place if wished, although personally i would not recommend leaving one on for good, they are not as strong as the OE cap and the holding legs do move and deform easy, and i honestly do not see the point of leaving one on under a bonnet where you cannot see it as a gauge that would help and be very important, fit an aftermarket temp gauge and have it in the cab on the dash etc where you can see it as a warning, but other than that a great tool to use, but no faith in leaving one on for good.,
The instructions are spot on, on the back of the packaging ?
8 out of 10 for quality
10 out of 10 for cost and ease of use

Think I might just buy one of these as my lil girl has the old original choked temp gauge, if I do, I will leave it fitted as an additional means of keeping an eye on the temp.
