Induction Heater

Postby drumtochty » Mon May 18, 2015 2:25 pm

I notice there are a lot of induction heaters now on the market to heat components to mostly get rusty threaded compnents apart, I assume.

Has anyone used one of these. Still in the £500 range but as always when you have sold to the main dealers, then the small garage that is going on at the moment, the only way to grow the business is to sell to the punters but in that case the price has to drop quite a bit.

Just had a 2004 Mk2.5 to flush the brake fluid, the rear nipples still had their rubbers covers on and the nipples unscrewed with no problem.

On the front both covers missing and both nipples did not want to move.

Did not have time to tease them with heat from a small gas torch so that is a job for another day.

Do these induction heaters make it an easy job or is it a case of yes some times and no other times.
