Jap finals Santa pod 30/09/12

Postby Alan we » Mon Oct 01, 2012 10:49 pm

Here is some pics from this weekend at the jap show final. First time i have ever run at the pod and i must say i really enjoyed it. I put my new toyo proxxis to the test and i have to say the grip was amazing. i was in the mid 16's which i thought was respectable. One thing i learned about these cars is how well they launch, i managed to initially pull away from a civic type r, and a corolla vvt which was about 190bhp, but was caught at the very end by the corolla but only just. My first launch was 3000rpm and it went well, then tried 4000rpm and it went really well!! but at 5000rpm ambition over took adhesion and i lite rears

Also some pics here of some mx5's i took whilst walking round the show, there were some really nice examples, i was asked about the mazda mender badge on the back of mine so hopefully some more proud owners will come.

Hats off to the owner of the white mk3, didnt managed to speak to the owner but who ever you are respect :handgestures-thumbup:

Will have to put the pics in a few posts as can only add 3 at a time

I like those skirts on the white Mk 2, and those rims work so well on yours.

Yeah was crackin weekend, abit cold tho sat night in a tent. I was quite taken to the black mk1 with the flush headlights, really smart. There was a turbo mx runing, think it was in the 13's. im not a boy racer by any means but it was great pullin up at the start, so shocked how well i was gettin of the line. My mates skyline with 400 ponys was in the late 12's, i reckon a 200 horse mx would be close tho!

Is ya mate called jamie with the 34? My mate dan with his skyline knows him quite well if its who he thinks ya mate is. Can your turbo setup be applied to a 1.8? M-m was tellin me 1.8 turbo conversion are normaly not done due to coilpack issues.

Yes it is Jamie Rigby, and my turbo is a full custom job pal so couldn't say for sure my dad has his supercharged with the mini charger on a 1.8 no issues

You can do the same to a 1.8 as you can to a 1.6. it is just that the 1.6 engine is far better for the mod/converstion, and in standard form there really is not much in it power wise, all the electric issues on the 1.8 will still be carried over , it is something we will just need to live with untill some good after market stuff is designed and made to be fitted to replace the standard stuff that are forever giving the same problems.
It is just a safer bet with a 1.6, bit more faith in it when a lot of money as been spent adding power, you could just fit an Rx7 engine and have done or so on....
