Catastrophic Chris's poorly pride and joy - Overheating problem

Postby Mazda Mender » Thu Oct 11, 2012 12:27 pm

Right everyone meet the unluckiest MX5/Roadster owner on the planet, he has problem after problem for us to solve....
He will give the problem and you lot need to give the solution.
These will start with all the most common problems hit by owners everyday to the not so well known as this moves on.
Anyone who would like to put one forward please P.M me.....................

Hi everyone my name is Chris and i have an overheating problem that i cannot get my head round, if I leave her on tick over she will not have a problem, I tried her today and run her up to operating temperature, she went through 3 cycles and all 3 times the fan came on and went off, no overheating.

I took her for a run with the hood down and took her onto the local motorway to give her some beans and the temperature shot straight up after not very long, pulled over to the hard shoulder because she was starting to overheat. I let her cool down and started to make the journey back home nice and slow, and she never overheated, got her on the drive and left her to run through a couple more cycles, fan on, fan off, and she did not overheat again.

Please help as i am at a loss as to whats wrong and how can I cure the problem.

I have been told that the mazdamenders are the best, :bow-yellow: Hope you can help

Regards
Chris

Well done Dave that was quick buddy.

The radiator is starting to get blocked and under pressure the flow of water is not enough to cool her down.
