I must admit I do like spending a bit of time keeping me motors looking as good as they can.

Did this to the "Track Dawg" YESTERDAY.

What compound do you use? I've tried G3 (very messy but quite effective), Poorboys SSR2 (less messy but not as aggressive).

It depends on the amount of work needed. I personally have 3 different mops, 3 different polishes/compounds, and a dual action polisher with variable speed setting. This is before applying polishes and waxes.

Will get you the info later, but I get all my stuff from cleanyourcar.co.uk

Some of the work done there is quite astounding (well out of my league), have a look at their forum.

Also, take a look at this guy (Probably the Lionel Messi of the detailing industry)

I would love to learn how to use an electric polisher. Keep looking at them, reading about them but am scared I would do something really wrong.

I do have swirl marks on my car (which I'm blaming on rubbish washing by my kids) that I know would go but I'm too scared.

BTW that video above is brilliant :handgestures-thumbup: Thanks for posting it.

I'll get Ste to put something together, as he was over here yesterday showing me how to use one, one with different speed settings is good one to get ,you can get them of the bay off e for under ÂŁ60 for a full kit.

The only way to polish successfully is to have the confidence to do it in the first place.
At work we have one of these http://www.powertoolsalesuk.com/milwauk ... -240v.html
Yes it could be a little expensive for at home, and as m-m has said you can get cheaper ones, but the abuse this gets at work day in day out it would outlast you and your car combined for the home use.
At work for many years of happy customers we always use 3m fast cut compound
http://www.3mdirect.co.uk/p-2880-3m-per ... pound.aspx
With the green pad in this picture
http://www.3mdirect.co.uk/p-1998-3m-per ... e-box.aspx
Followed by a 3m finesse it glaze with yellow pad from the picture
The key to polishing is to get a little heat into the panel, and always run the polisher direction off a panel not on to it. If your in any doubt about polishing your own car, take it to a bodyshop, if you burn through paint it will cost more to put it right than a full car polish would of been.
Ive also done a post in the body work section for a full flat and polish of a front end. If you want a quote on a polish drop me a pm or a ring at work link to our bodyshop is in my signature
Regards
Ste
