Silver tips

Postby Vicky » Sun Mar 30, 2014 4:23 pm

Seems very odd washing a silver car again after 20+ years of washing black and dark blue cars ... she needs polishing and waxing ... I'm going to give a a clay bar session but would like any suggestions you have about what polish / wax to use on this lovely silver paintwork :handgestures-thumbup:

Having been used to seeing a deep gloss shine on dark paint Vicky it is not so easy on the lighter colours especially Silver, It never really looks as good without a lot more work.
You already know know to give it a good wash with good shampoo and a soft mitt, then clay bar to get rid of any contaminants. That is a good start but you knew that already.

See what it is like after that stage then give it some polish, Autoglym Super Resin would be a good start if doing it with a cloth. Once it is polished you then need to clean it with a pre wax cleaner such as Autoglym High definition cleanser, this will remove any polish residue, and then lastly seal the surface with some good carnauba wax. Autoglym High definition will suffice to see what results you get.

Polishes, waxes etc is a minefield of different suppliers everyone has their own preference.
Autoglym I have suggested as it is good for the money without getting into the more expensive products.
