As per title, whats the best and safest way to clean this thing without risk of damaging the sensor?

Best/Safest way of cleaning a Mass Airflow Sensor
So I have been cleaning up the induction air cone and found that the Mass Air Flow meter has a gungey oil crap all over the front grill and possibly on the sensor itself.
As per title, whats the best and safest way to clean this thing without risk of damaging the sensor?

Personally i would wipe down the plastic honeycomb first with a rag and some brake cleaner and wipe it all clean..i would use a spray can on the rest as it will break the crap down and blast it away...carb cleaner will do the same thing....

Just for the record, I did exactly as advised in the post above and sure enough passed dreaded emissions test for the MOT.
