Repairs

Postby PK1900 » Thu Sep 26, 2019 10:42 am

Hi everyone....
I'm looking for a mechanic to repair my MX-5 MK1 which after a while in storage has failed it's MOT.
The main issues are corrosion.
The failure notes are:
Vehicle structure corroded to the extent that the rigidity of the assembly is significantly reduced Offside (floor pan in middle of vehicle).
Body component corroded and likely to cause injury Offside rear (Wheel arch).
Seat belt anchorage prescribed area strength or continuity reduced Offside Rear (outer sill).

There are a number of adviseries as well mainly related to corrosion.
The garage has found it difficult to get people to quote for the work for such an old car, but the quote I have been given is quite high. I love my car and really want someone who loves these cars to work on it rather than some cowboy mechanic.
I'm seeking a MX-5 specialist mechanic who could help me out and restore my car to its former glory.
Does anyone know someone in the Manchester area who would be able to help?
I've attached few photos of the issues.
