Mk1 instrument panel circuit board info needed

Postby Miataman » Mon Oct 08, 2018 12:47 pm

I have a problem with my instrument panel.

I recently bought a 1993 1.8 Eunos and the rev counter isn't working. The chap I bought it from told me that there was some dodgy wiring when he got it (now fixed) that burned out the circuit board and that a new board will be all that's needed as he'd tested the rev counter on another car.

I sourced another circuit board for a JDM car but on examination it seems quite different to the one currently mounted on the instrument panel. Different circuit tracks and a different part number.

I have 3 circuit boards altogether including the one actually on the panel and they're all slightly different.

Is there a resource anywhere that could tell me which would be the correct board for my instrument panel?

The things I have are as follows.

Instrument cluster part no. N026-319-010

Circuit board currently fitted, rev counter not working, everything else fine

Part no. 769913-580

Number stamped on board 087

Another number printed on the board 3

Burnt out one. Looks the same as fitted with minor circuit differences

Part no. 769913-591

Stamped no. 089

Printed number 5

new one

Part no. 769904-800

Stamped no. 738

Printed no. 2

Can anyone guide me? I'd rather revive the cluster I've got than have to replace the whole unit. Seems a bit wasteful.

The rev counter is driven from the coil packs, check that you have a 4-pin coil pack fitted, as if a 3 pin one is used, the car will run but the rev counter won't work.

Thanks Andrew.
I'll take a look. Is it easy to tell the difference without stripping it out?

yes, just unplug one of the connectors to the coil pack and count the pins on the coil pack.
