Drilled Airbox mk1 versus K&N induction...

Got a problem, need some advice ?
Get in here and ask the pros. There will always be one to bring you the correct answer, quickly.

Drilled Airbox mk1 versus K&N induction...

Hi all....
my mk1 has a drilled airbox, done before I owned the car. It gives a lovely growl on acceleration in all gears....I was considering putting in a k and n air induction kit so obviously losing the airbox....would this still give the engine its growl, would it not be as good as the drilled box OR would it be better. Any advice or thoughts? ,Many thanks. :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Had a K&N typhoon fiited to my 2003 sport, sounded great, nice obvious induction sound. But I took it off as the sound of the induction was so good it kept on making me hit the loud pedal which wasnt good for the fuel economy.

Personally, for maintaining the original engine bay look, I would stick with the drilled air
box look. Very little performance gain either way.
1993 1.6 Eunos Roadster (gone)
1998 UK Mk 2 1.6 (gone)
2003 1.8 SVT Sport (shouldnt have sold it)
1991 1.6 Eunos Roadster with a bit of bling.

Life is a journey, best travelled topless in an MX5!!

My god are people still drilling the OE air boxes???get it out and fit a proper induction kit or fit a none drilled air box...
