Mk2.5 no hazard lights or central locking

Postby rooflessdriver » Mon May 07, 2018 12:38 pm

Few electrical issues on my 2002 mk2.5 Arizona I'm struggling to resolve. The following aren't working:

Hazard lights & indicators
Central locking
Interior light
Radio
Obd2 port (cel on dash)

The room & central locking fuses under the steering wheel aren't getting power.
Pulled the 40A head fuse under the bonnet and this isn't showing a voltage, except when turning the headlights on with key in ignition.

I did read on the OC forum someone else had the same issue and they found a 15A fuse, BTN3, in the boot, above the battery under the bootlid/wheel arch.
The post had photos but it's several years old and the photos aren't available any more.

I've looked above the battery but can't see a fuse there.
Anyone with a 2002 onwards mk2.5 could check and take a photo for me?
Would be appreciated!

Sean.

A fuse in the boot on a NB is new one on me....NA as a twin fuse box in the boot for the electric aerail and HRW...
If this poster?? As found one in a NB it sounds like it is an aftermarket addition...
You have fuses blown are a very bad earth..but if it is fuses i would be searching for why it as blown in the first place..if so it is a major short out..
What were you doing for this to happen...jump starting??

The original mx5oc post was here.
https://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/yaf_posts ... -1-8i.aspx

On post #23, Roadster Robbie commented it was new after 2001.

Originally the room fuse blew whilst driving to an MX5 meet and the CEL came on. I put a new fuse in & I plugged in 3 different OBD 2 readers and none of them worked, which is when I found the room fuse slot hasn’t got power.

It was fitted for the alarm system from Dec 2000 on the UK spec Mx-5's only not the Japanese Imports as they did not have the alarm system fitted, but we will check as this is a new one for the books.

Mines a UK spec 2002 1.8 Arizona, so would be good to know if it is there and whereabouts.
MOT in July and it won’t be passing as it stands!

just blagged a look in the boot of my old 2003 SVT Sport ( the one I wish I had never sold) and there is no fuse above the battery, well if it is there it must be hidden away somewhere very discreet.

Interested in the final outcome and solution

1993 1.6 Eunos Roadster (gone)
1998 UK Mk 2 1.6 (gone)
2003 1.8 SVT Sport (shouldnt have sold it)
1991 1.6 Eunos Roadster with a bit of bling.

Life is a journey, best travelled topless in an MX5!!

Fixed.
As suspected, blown 15amp fuse in a black holder up in the boot lid/arch above the battery.
