Power door lock problems!

Postby liam_92 » Thu Nov 02, 2017 10:13 am

Hi,

I recently tried wiring in a remote locking kit to my mk2.5 2002 1.8 mx5. Unfortunately when i connected the battery back up, the live off i had picked up from the heated seat block shorted against the earth on the door control module . My first port of call was to check that the central locking was still working. Fortunately the car still central locks and unlocks by key from outside on both sides, but the power lock switch inside doesn't central lock or unlock either doors anymore. I have changed the control module in hopes that was the issue, but it still doesn't lock or unlock all doors from the drivers door lock. I have also checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine.

I have fully disconnected the remote central locking kit to make sure it wasn't affecting the existing central locking, but no luck. All I can think that's happened is the microswitch in the door that detected the internal door lock has broken. But i don't know the colours of the wires that run to it. So it makes it a bit difficult to trace what wire does what. Does the system run through anything else within the door? As in instrument cluster etc, that would cause this problem. Running out of ideas on what could be wrong.. if anyone has any ideas, that would be great.
