Auto Login Not Working

Postby agent_orange » Fri Aug 05, 2016 12:48 am

We have had a niggle with Auto Login since our hosts changed our servers - which has now been resolved.

However you may find that you still need to enter your password each time you visit. The reason for this is because you have cookies present which are still pointing to the old server this site was hosted on. If you remove the old cookies and relogin this will resolve the problem.

If you need assistance as to how to do this, feel free to send me a PM and I will guide you through it.

It is fine here with Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 but Firefox sometimes remebers if you open and close the browser but never if you retart the PC.

I have deleted the cookies in Firefox.

The problem with firefox is that the tick to tell the pc to remember the log on is unticked each restart but the login and password are populated in the boxes. Strange, sounds like a Firefox problem but it does automatically log into other sites.

That's two slightly different things. You saved your login credentials on the browser. This is what is filling in the username and password fields for you.

Autologin is where you dont have to hit the login button, ie you come onto the forum and you can start posting etc already because you have been automatically logged in.

So in your case, whether the username and password fields are filled in or not doesn't matter, but tick the auto login box and the login and you should not have to do that again even if you close the browser or shutdown your computer etc.

Does that make sense?

Yes what you say makes sence that the board recognises the user. It does from this from my PC Win 7, IE 11, with no issues.

Just not with Firefox and the same problem with the scottish fivers board.

I can live with that, not an issue!
