upgrading oil pressure gauge

Postby davew » Sun Aug 23, 2015 10:35 am

i know that the later style oil pressure gauge is pretty much useless ,is it an easy job to convert to the earlier type gauge if so what is it that you need to change ,i'm guessing i would need a oil pressure sensor the the early car and do you need the actual gauge from the dash.

You will need the MK 1 early sender unit( simple screw in and out on the block) and the cluster gauge which is easy to change also, do a how to :handgestures-thumbup:

Did you get the pressure sender fitted? I cannot get the mk1 unit to go in. It seems like there is a pipe in the way. Stopping me from lining it up properly? Think it's part of the power steering pipework, any ideas I am screwed!

With a Mk 2/2.5 version you need to go another route than using the Mk 1 units, if you get a track dog sender unit you can just use the OE gauge and just re-position the gauge needle.

Small pop rivet unused, painted black and stuck in place after removing the old one should do fine.
