The biggest problem with these comes when the 501 T 10 bulb has blown and needs replacing. Owners are removing them wrongly, which snaps the plastic tacky spring loaded design which holds them in place. They are designed poorly for a simple removal to change a bulb and are over tight in the boot lid holes. There is a need to give too much force to the spring section for the locking part to be able to be released so the light unit can be pulled from the boot lid hole.
This will show you how to remove them and solve the issue. To make it easier for a simple removal for good and for next time. Solving the issue of the snapped spring loaded plastic that nearly every roadster seems to have with them stuck in place with duck tape, blue tack, double sided tape or even worse glue and silicon sealant.
This is something I have been doing for many many years , so I thought I would share it .....
Open your boot lid....

If you look at the flat ridged section of the light body you will see a arrow. Push the light unit in that direction and start to ease the other end out while doing so, there will be resistance, this is normal.

While still pushing get yourself a small flat screw driver and give the light unit a bit of helpful assistance to be removed, take your time , we don't want to damage them....

And it will work loose and out in the end without damage to the boot lid or unit....

Twist and remove the light socket from the unit so it releases the unit from the roadster....

If you are replacing the 501 T10 bulb it is just a simple case of pulling the bulb out of the socket to be replaced with a new one...

If you look at the problem locking end. You will see the over done locking spike that holds the light unit in place which in turn snaps the plastic spring loaded half from over force to get the spike free from the boot hole....

So on to the simple solution to the problem...get yourself a file and just file some of the spike down flatter...

Now put your light socket back in the light unit not forgetting to twist and lock it in place. You will now find it a lot easier to re-fit than it was to come out. Install by the plastic spring end first. Push in the direction towards the arrow and hinge it back into the hole and let go...

And then just to show it is easier to remove to swap a bulb next time and not break the plastic spring section. Now it works how it should have all ways done. Push the light unit in the direction of the arrow. Pull and hinge out on lock side that will not take as much force and effort and remove from the boot lid hole, easy peasy, no hassle....
