Shock absorber bottom bush

Postby Jetmech » Mon Apr 25, 2016 7:23 pm

The bottom bush on my front shocks are cracked and starting to collapse.
The original bush is bonded into the eye on the shock and the inner bearing is also bonded to the rubber material, therefore locating the shock absorber centrally in the lower wishbone.
The replacement poly bush appears to be for a double tapered eye whereas the eye on the mk2 shock absorber is straight. Once assembled the shock absorber is free to slide along the inner bearing, which is about 8mm longer than the poly bush that it fits into.
I bought the poly bushes from Autolink so they are probably fine, but I am concerned that there is too much movement with this design. So I wondered if anyone else has used these on their standard MK2 shock absorbers?

Ok, thank you guys. I agree about going for rubber, but I haven't managed to find any for the standard MK2 shocks.
Anyway I have fitted the poly ones, for now at least, and all seems fine.
