I did notice that the lid of the diagnostic box on the car being worked on had a sticker showing what all the pin outs were. This is not present on my car and I am reluctant to put the bridging wire in just anywhere.
The other slight difference to your method Wayne is that he disconnected the fuel pump connector under the removable panel underneath the steering column. Am I right in assuming that you took out the fuse to the fuel pump?
