Looking for advice on servicing my mx5 mk1 1994 1.8. Just passed flying colours on MOT but suggested a good service
HT leads
Spark plugs
Air filter
Oil filter and replacement to oil suggestions?
Etc - aka what else should I do?

Appreciate the wealth of you're experience when attempting my first Mx5 mk1 service! :)

Its always a starter for ten to give the brakes a good look over once a year, slider pins sometimes stick, pistons have been known to seize and rear handbrake mechanisms can stick. Clear all the drainage points, along the sills and the rear drain tubes. I am a bit OTT, as once a year I remove all the wheel arch liners and make sure nothing is lurking and holding unwanted moisture. I spray all rubber with Halfords silicone spray and make sure I get some down the window rubbers. The off course coolant changes as and when required dependent on the type of antifreeze being used.

Sure some of the Master Menders will have some other suggestions

she's a '1.8 '94 with around 140k on the clock. The previous owner did regular oil change every 6 months...not so sure but definitely new Oil filter and clean as a whistle oil currently. Defo needs new/upgraded HT leads and new NGK spark plugs as running a bit lumpy!

At those miles,,,water pump, cam belt, idler, tensioner and spring..check cam seals, crank seals, CAS seal, and if your doing the pump and belt, rocker seal (OE mazda part),fresh oil, and filter, air filter, fuel filter,Aux belts, fresh antifreeze, gearbox and diff oil change, upper and lower gear shaft boots , nylon cup and turret shifter oil, plugs, renew brake fluid, ,check PS fluid, go around all bushes ,hinges and locks with sillicon lube spray, brakes may need a good proper service too, this all depands on the history,Wiper blades and a good check and look over, belt and pump is recommended at 6 years or 60,000 miles which ever comes first
At that age... check thermostat body T piece and water pump inlet L piece, and the hose that connects them up, check all coolant hoses, more so the rear bulk head ones that run into the cab for the heater matrix, with her being a 1.8 if the CAS as been weeping in drips onto the pipe and makes it soft, it will pop when you don't want it to, check battery for any leaks etc., brake lines for corrosion , pistons weeping or master weeping, clutch master and slave weeping and fluid.
That will do you for the minute ;0).

Wow that's quite a list. All belts cam and aux have been done, new battery, I've changed wipers blades. I was going to get round to doing all hoses at some point. As for the rest I'll start ticking them off!
