Wanted to remove and replace the filler cap pull cable with a Solenoid version. So using a generic 12volt solenoid welded an extension bracket on to the spring loaded cap ‘plunger’ and connected the solenoid with a short length of braided wire cable. Works a treat. Couple of photos below.

Then made a start on my modified switch panel for the tombstone housing. Windows x2 filler cap and auxiliary. The current panel is black abs (still with protective film) but will be replaced with a printed brushed metal panel.

Yes it’s on the to do list at some point. The cap was the priority as I’ve remove the cable assembly from the rear bulkhead for a clearer look without the center console.

Great work as always JL,

I've also done the same, i added a solenoid to the fuel cap and boot catch, but i wasn't brave enough to remove the cable unit, i re-routed mine so they are under the passenger seat so i can access them with some long nose pliers just in case!!

Thanks all. Your comments are appreciated. :coffee:

Tracking through the last few jobs before Friday.

I would really welcome some advice please. Can’t make my mind up about wheels. I wanted to go 15” and something that fits the retro theme. Any suggestions please?

Thanks in advance.
