I bought a 5 Ltr flat metal jerry can for the boot, as i am building it for my Daughter ,this needs to be all good to go in every way for her, but when it turned up it was..well OK but not in the best of condition as it was bought s/h...so full strip and repaint...

Old OE rad...1992 Roadster and still black...what will the doom and gloom merchants of the brown rad of the end of the world want to make or say of that, as it is still good.....

So the Water pump, cam belt, idler,tensioner and spring, cam seals, crank seal, and rocker cover seal have all been done, "all" the coolant hoses have been renewed and any metal pipes have been sorted or replaced, a new alloy high flow rad as been fitted and 5 year coolant, "all" the breather hoses have been replaced and washer hoses, plus lots of other bits in the engine bay sorted where I personally felt needed including new HT leads from Anan void .
Mk 2 suspension sorted and repainted, fitted with new drop links all around with front upper/lower and TRE dust boots all replaced, all nuts/bolts etc in and around eye shot have "all" been cracked /removed greased and re installed or replaced.

Now due to the FB warriors I feel the need to issue a warning for the next load of pics, more so for the engineers that seem to think they have worked on more cars than me in some cases 30 + years old and dealing with alloy wheels fused to the hubs, nuts and bolts seized solid for a simple job that should take a hr turn into a full day of attack etc, so to the warning for those that like to struggle and love to quote text book and white board( if only real world was that easy) ..

For those with a weak stomach.... The next collection of pictures may contain amounts of copper slip, red rubber grease or silicone lube spray being used,now for those with a engineering degree , ..... no cars , owners, mechanics or animals where armed in any way using these procedures and have not done for nearly 40 years, thinking ahead and "preventive medicine" is okay, if we lived in a country where nothing rots then we would not need to use any of the lubricants as much which are in most cases being used as a "protection" for further down the line, so sleep save, stop worrying "WE" do know what we are doing in the "REAL WORLD" of using our cars and have done for many years chaps, if it is about getting your hands dirty,,,,,wear gloves...

Time to start on the underneath....

Rear heat shield was shot so made up a new one out of some galvanized sheet and sprayed it with a alloy paint...

And there I went to the trouble of buying a rear heatshield from Mazda!

Then again, I've got no way of making one.

On a mindless flicking through the bay of e and market place, i came across a set of low pro headlight units, which were brainstorm units for sale....so messaged the seller which was spot on agreed a price and arrived greatly packed, stripped them all down to refurb them, for the age they are in good condition, but i will be taking everything completely apart and back together again before fitting, the only two issues that needed to be addressed is the plug connection to the cars loom so they are a simple plug and play and solve the issue of water getting into the head light bowls, the bulbs are H3's so they hook under a lug and screw down in place with a earth cable ...but they are outside the dome bowl and not sealed so i will need to work something out so they are water tight but are still easy to change when needed... because of this some of the chrome on the bowl as started to lift or discolour so will need to be re-chromed...

And then working out what to use to make the bulb a bit more air tight ,,,just need to add rubber grommets....thank you boots your hair gel tubs are spot on....

The grommets arrived so drill out and fitted them at the bottom, will make sense later when the new bulbs are fitted....

The grommets and the hole punch finally arrived which meant i could route wire and connections, still waiting on the M4 washers and mirror paint to arrive, but i should be able to get the cage painted and the electrics and socket all on place ready for the light units to be finished and fixed in place...
