Busy week this week but I managed to paint the mirrors, I just masked them up, I painted the aluminium base with grey primer, then a red primer to match the plastic red primer. then painted all red, tricky to paint as you have to do it in stages. but I managed it, after 24 hours I gave them a coat of lac
I didn't have the proper ones so used cap heads for now. I fitted the mirrors and set by hand for now, I have the wires in and hopefully can get them wired in next week sometime.
quer. when I came to fit them, the drivers door had a centre hole in already, this maybe because I changed it for another as the original was peeling badly. I do plan to refit the original one day . the passenger one only had a small centre hole which in the pic needed enlarging to the line I had scribed on the door. Using my trusty Makita and a rotory bit I opened the hole out, there is a strengthening piece behind the skin, and you need to cut that as well to a diameter of 27 mm. Then you can fit the mirrors, one more thing the base of the electric mirrors are thicker than the original ones so you need longer screws, origonals are 15mm long you need 25mm long screws.I didn't have the proper ones so used cap heads for now.
