As some may know my daily is a poorly lady and needs a new heart, and i always said if anything should happen with her being a auto i would convert her to manual, so a new engine as been found and sorted ready to be dropped in, 6 Spd box and 4.1 dif plus all of the other bits needed to do the swap, now i cannot lean to anyone for advice on this because i cannot find anyone that as done a MK II conversion through the system, we have all done MK 1's but not Mk II's so will be very much trial and error and as we go throwing spanners up the street, but i will do a How to for those that will be interested.
I myself will stay away from most of the crap posted up on the interweb on this as with doing a MK 1 found most of it to be rubbish in what was needed and not.

Any way with her being the V.S model it as a R.S engine with the extra ponies so the search was on plus a 6 spd box which she would of been built with at the factory if sent out as a manual, the version would also have been built with a 3.9 diff but swung towards a 4.1 so she will be quicker through the gearing.
The engine is sorted and is just waiting on me putting in a new rear crank seal as a course of action with everything else that i feel needs doing including new hoses.
Getting it all in and bolted up will be the easy bit, it is the electrics that i am not looking forward to as the MK II's have auto box ECU plus the standard ECU(which is the same in the auto and manual)

Any way a few pics of the engine that as been farted on by unicorns......

Looking good Wayne! Glad to hear you're getting it sorted.

The sparkly cover looks great, I might talk to Ste about something similar at the same time as getting a couple of bits of tidied up.

You've also convinced me that a squared-off nose probably isn't the best look so it's back to the drawing board/internet!

Booked old faithful in for full alignment with the guys at HW Moons Toyota so Mick could work his magic as she was brought out early to use with breaking my daily Mk 2 engine ; 0) ,She as been sorn for the last 4 years and flow through MOT, i did fit 4 new rubber shoes on her at the same time as MOT and the only think i found wrong was a indicator bulb on a pre check for MOT.
Also replaced a coolant hose, which was fun, good luck to anyone changing that one....

Using old faithful as the daily at the minute while i finish off building the new engine etc for the MK 2 black and gold and find the time to swap it out and do the conversion.
So had a check around the old girl and noticed that the upper, lower and track rod end boots were split, crank seal is weeping ,the front fogs are not working? volt gauge is playing up/failing and the MGF clock needs replacing, also swapping the rims and tyres around from the project plaything with the bad weather setting in, there is a heat shield rattling at a certain revs, and i will be swapping out the MK 2 suspension for MIester CRD's...

Fogs sorted, turned out to be a dodgy fuse that over heated/melted but did not blow?
Front boots all replaced with new.
Front suspension swapped out, just need to swap the backs and add the adjuster extension bits.
Snow stopped play :0(

Wheels changed...
