Another HID kit was ordered for Hi beam, which was fitted this weekend, Tony the MOT guy pick up on a floor pan section on the passenger side jacking point that was going crusty which was a concern...stuck a camera in their and all looked solid so just the floor pan but where is it getting in????

So the rest of the story....at MOT Tony Harrison spotted a blow in the floor on the passenger side front...which i was shocked about,..it needed repairing...but also wanted to see inside that box section to see 1) how bad it was and 2) how the water was getting in....as is the norm...we end up sorting everyone else's out first before our own...after having a quick camera probe in there it looked fine..and just looked like the floor pan...but it was still at the jacking point which still needed sorting asap ....old out (nosy)..fresh in and on..and seal the lot up for good like an Egyptian tomb...time was getting the better of me...so arranged two days off to sort it to go off planet...spoke to Carl (CBS Autos) earlier in the week in one of a man bonding sessions...and called later in the week to see about just running up there for the day ( not been up for ages)but we get together regular in other ways being menders....so up i went on Thursday to cut her open and see what we could find....it was just the floor pan inners are solid..but left the question..how do you get into this section and how was the water getting in...well we found that...the skin is over lapped and runs up and round into the wheel arch...it had found its way in between them and puddled in this 1 section..blowing it from behind.....so left Carl to it...and licked her with his passion...saved me messing....found a new section we need to keep an eye on and a way in....great day as normal when we get together....the curry dinner we got was spot on...and if anyone is there through the week...go and try the flapjack....Mmmmm....Anthony can roll out the banter to easy and is so laid back he'll fall over and you can see and feel the passion in him...
Thanks chaps...we really need to do it again very soon
..now i hope all the pics Load

Two LEDs are failing, one in the instrument cluster at the fuel gauge and one in the heater panel, they must get to a certain temp and go off? cool down and come back on? any way i am not a lover of leds in the cluster anyway as they are more of a directed light than a light if that makes sense, so swapped the 501 cluster ones and refitted 501 5w red bulbs,,,sssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooo much better.
So i need to change the heater panel bulb, sort out the remote C/L is playing up?,service the brakes on the MK 1 VSII

Remote C/L is dead, which to be fair i fitted the kit some 15 years ago ,so it as not done bad really, new kit ordered and arrived, will do a walk through guide with it, just ordered 2 more kits 1 for the blue VS and one for the Mk1 project roadster.
the old girl is taking a beating this winter, so she will not be used next winter as a daily....

The rear reverse light and fog light as now been fitted so the that means the bumper fog light can go, new rear bumper waiting in the wings to be painted and fitted...

Under bonnet prototype test lights fitted from Jass performance which are designed to help with that emergency when dark for checking screen wash, oil etc etc or forbid when broken down....the angle is perfect to light up the whole of the engine bay, discrete as in you really need to look to see them, they are on a on and off switch so only lit when needed and with them being LED's are low on burning wattage, very happy with them...

The Mk 1 NA VS II is being used as a daily at the minute,,,and i have been chasing a rattle and vibration with the exhausts , twin exit Mx5 parts units, so off it came as the trait of them is the support pieces from the box to the pipes weld become loose and vibrate ,,,,not those as the were re-welded properly with s/steel weld, it seems that another trait of these S/steel systems as come to light, as once this one was removed the second system did the same thing as did the MK 2/2.5 system they sell...
Because condensation gets trapped in the boxes of the zorst ( thats any zorst unit i might add) thats why they rust from the inside out, so when starting up in the morning you will notice water coming out of the tail pipes as it pushes the water out,That is also the reason why you need to take it for a good blast before MOT , to get any water out of the system so it heats up to temp so you get a good reading.
Now with paying for a s/steel system you would think that you will not hit as much issues as a mild steel system, now what i think is happening and i will know for sure when i cut one of these open, is you get a buzz like a swarm of bees following you?, i personally thing it is the webbing cage in the back box that as worked loose or of it was welded into place it as been welded with steel weld rather that s/steel weld and the water as done its magic in there over time, so i will not know 100% untill i cut one open, needless to say i will never recommend their system and waste my good money on another as i have bought two Mk 1 twin exits and on the second on the MK 2 from them, waste of hard earned cash...

Any way off the zorst came and fitted a Jap twin exit i had sitting around and removed the cat for a straight through de cat, wow she feels so much better, i will fit the cat for MOT only now..

So new MK 2 frame and and MK 2 beige roof skin and tension cables fitted from Autolnkmx5 also... with a Mk 2.5 NB rain rail and side lifter support bar brackets off a Mk 2/2.5 NB and a Mk 2/2.5 HRW socket joined into the MK 1 sockets wiring, so it makes no difference if i fit a Mk 2/2.5 or MK 1 HT both sockets are in place..

Gave the Mk1 a shake...good clean and polish...blacks great when its clean and polished...also started on adding the red hoses under the bonnet...breather hoses done...coolant ones next.
Suspension needs to be raised and a clean up inside.
Fitted a new windscreen header surround seal off a Mk 2...it is a better mad seal than the Mk1 seal but the pillor trim is different so you are left wit an extra flap of rubber that runs all the way down which will end up annoying for me...

The little lady is looking and running spot on, the air horn as stopped working, but think it is a relay? will investigate further when free time, the C/L was hit and miss, new batt's in the fob solved the issue, i also got a little bored and replaced all the vacuum hoses and coolant hoses, flushed the system and deep cleaned the expansion bottle and re added 5 year coolant,,air bled and all spot on...

Been chasing a very slight every now and then a squeaky aux belts??, so i found it a very very slight weep from the thermostat gasket at the bottom that was dropping after being left a while onto the hose and then onto the crank pulley giving the slight slip of the belt, so new gasket ordered and and new thermostat while it was coming apart any way, 20 minute job, removed, cleaned , re-fitted, sealed ,fresh coolant, air locks out , job done...
