Wondered if this would fit my 92 mk1 and are they worth it? I just changed the filter a few miles ago...

This will only fit the 1.6 with a adaptor plate which can be bought on ebay, but it should be good to go on a 1.8, the price is good for new :handgestures-thumbup:

Mine is a 1.6 so I need to get an adaptor plate I guess.... Do they make much difference or are they all about sound? If no difference I might just just go with spending the money on new bushes and working towards the new suspension.

On its own it will only change the sound...but negligible difference to power output. You'd need some other serious mods to make it worthwhile.

They don't make the car quicker but they do make you drive it quicker, just so you can listen to the induction roar

keep and eye on your airflow and source too, sucking in hot (as such, thin) air from the engine bay is bad for mixtures (the mx is already dirty) and thus bad for power. Seeing a K&N parked right next to the exhaust manifold is all too common and all too stupid!
The good news here is that Mazda weren't too attentive themselves in feeding your engine with lovely cold, fat air, so some smart pipework and you'll gain both noise and a cleaner burn :handgestures-thumbup:

On the standard mk1, the air-intake nozzle is over the nearside wheel arch of the car. Is there another mod to get more cold air to it other than just cutting a hole in the wing?

(I ought to add that I have often considered changing the air filter set up, but with my stainless steel exhaust the car makes an ace sound anyway, that does not end up bugging me after a 6 hour drive to the north (or west), so unless there is a positive effect on the performance then I won't do it.)

I'd be using insulated ducting from somewhere out front, like the grille aperture :handgestures-thumbup:
