By the way...regardless of selling on eBay or in a shop, the retailer is responsible for making sure what he is selling is safe and legal. If he's selling in the EU then the parts must be CE Marked. Do they have CE markings? If not, the retailer is breaking the law by selling them and needs reporting to their local trading standards, who can then force them to reveal the importer's details, who is ultimately responsible for ensuring the product is correctly marked before bringing them into the EU.

It is all under 2007/46/EC for vehicle parts, which is a conglomeration of several directives concerning whole vehicles or subsystems intended for type-approved vehicles. There is a defined level of (documented) testing that must have been done successfully before any parts can be sold in the EU as a replacement assembly for a previously-approved vehicle. Any safety issues like these would render it non-approvable and therefore illegal to sell in the EU.

I would have thought eBay would be interested in hearing from anyone who has bought these callipers and has had the problems in this thread. They wouldn't want to be associated with people selling stuff like that. Maybe people should report them to eBay.

I think there would be a strong case for asking for a refund via eBay and raising a case. Especially if you paid via Paypal I suspect you would get your money back.

We are (hopefully) getting a refund. Garry spoke to Citizens Advice and they are passing info on to Trading Standards. We haven't reported them to Ebay - Garry spoke to the company and we thought we'd see if they had enough of a conscience to stop selling them first... Doesn't look like it.

Apparently they didn't seem either surprised, sorry or interested.

BTW Paggers, hope you didn't take offense at me posting a pic of my car back on track over on OC - not meant as a dig at you!

I hope I didn't say anything that would give you that impression. My aim is to enjoy my photography and I want other people to do the same. No reason at all why I would take offense any more than you should take offense of me posting pictures of your pride and joy being tinkered with. :handgestures-thumbup:

Yours was far from the only Mx/roadster over the weekend that had brake problems, if you look in the back ground of nialls pic you should just be able to make out me working one the brakes of a yellow MK 2 to while your was being put right, we hit plenty of other problems that was put right, and there was some belters, she is all OK now ,thats the main thing :handgestures-thumbup: just trying to make you feel better in the fact that there were other owners with problems, so you don't feel that you were the only one buddy
