Broken dip stick handle repair...MK 1 1989 to MK 2.5 2005

Postby Mazda Mender » Mon Jul 22, 2019 6:42 am

For a lot of the time " keep it simple" is the only solution, so I got talking to Mr Matthew Lambert one afternoon about this and that centred around the roadsters, one of them being the oil dip stick handle repairs etc, so with messages back and forth and testing different repair handles in different grades and colours, we finally got to where it needed to be and thankfully in yellow now.
So this is just a quick walk through on fitting...

Purchase your dip stick repair handle which is pre-drilled ready to fit in the colour of your choice to match what ever colour scheme you my have going under the bonnet....

Now they are 3D printed and are printed at 100% for strength, which also means they can be sanded to a smooth finish..

The broken stub that you are left with needs to be no longer than 8-10mm long to fit, so if it as snapped off longer than 10mm you will need to cut it down...

Once it is at the correct length after a quick trial fit to make sure it is correct, it is just a case of applying glue and pressing into place, we recommend super glue applied to the stub and base, we also recommend sticking it in situ so you can get the hoop of the new repair handle to sit correct, inline with the engine to look right..

Once the glue as set, thats it, job done , no more struggling to get a grip of that broken dip stick broken stub to check oil...

If the OE look is not to your taste then there is also the very nice machined alloy Jass performance repair handle also available from Autolinkmx5..... https://www.autolinkmx5.com/dip-stick-h ... 7222-p.asp

Hope this is of use, as always any questions just ask..
