Instrument Panel

Postby drumtochty » Tue Aug 10, 2021 1:54 pm

My 2018 ND2 2.0 has had the instrument panel replaced under warranty.

The panel has the Rev Uounter in the middle and it is printed dial with a moving pointer
The Speedometer is on the right and is a printed panel with a moving pinter.

On the left is the fuel and temperature guage with a menu of other information changed with a steering wheel button.
It also shows you a picuture of a door or the boot lid if they are not closed so it is a computer monitor. It also houses the mileometer.

I was surprised that the mileage is now at zero as I thougt this mileage info was held in the ecu but no it is recorded in an instrument panel piece of electonics.

I have a note from Mazda to keep with the car documents to advise any party that buys the car in the future.

It is also noted in the Mazda Digital service record as below.

REPAIRER JOB DATE JOB NO ODOMETER WORK PERFORMED
MMUK/00114, Barnetts Mazda

7850 Miles

Vehicle's Actual Mileage

7850 Miles Items completed during Service
New Odometer (6th generation) / New BCM (7th generation) Installed (1 Miles)

Just thought I would include this for general info.

The NB's held the mileage on the cluster, I am guessing the NC'a are the same? But the mileage readout can be removed and swapped onto the new cluster...so I cannot see why a Mazda dealership cannot also do this on a ND or even get a auto electrician in to set it correct any way regardless.
Sounds like a dealership cop out to me.

Not looked into it in detail Wayne.

I was surprised but being a Mazda Dealer they created a new heading in the Digital Service Record that records the info as well as putting it on the chrono list of jobs done i.e. PDI, service,s etc.

Non Mazda Dealers while they can add a service to the DSR do not have that permission on the DSR.
