How & where to replace a Build sticker..

Postby Mazda Mender » Sat Feb 13, 2021 10:34 pm

After a lot of work (which is still ongoing, please see the list below, as you might be able to help) we can now offer replacement Build Stickers for the MK 1, MK 2 and MK 2.5 JDM versions. As well as MK 1 ,MK 2 UK versions. The service has been put into place with the intension of helping those owners that have their build stickers missing or faded with the ink rubbed off. We can also duplicate one for those that are having spray work. There will be questions and pictures we will need from owners to be able to move forward with requests to make one up. The information is very important; in order to proceed, please click the following link, which will redirect you to Autolinkmx5's website, where you can request one. Which will, on average, take just under a week, there is a discount for Mazdamenders forum users. :handgestures-thumbup:

Links to ordering...

MK 1 1989 - 1997.... https://www.autolinkmx5.com/build-stick ... 1901-p.asp

MK 2 1998 - 2000.... https://www.autolinkmx5.com/build-stick ... 1902-p.asp

Mk 2.5 2001 - 2005.... https://www.autolinkmx5.com/build-stick ... 1903-p.asp

Now I have had owners ask where the build sticker can be found or where one that is missing is meant to go... they are found on the drivers side B post...

If you are replacing a worn/damaged sticker or removing for painting. Then the process below will help in showing you where they are found, or where they need to be stuck into place while also showing what (and how) to use to remove...

1 ) Make your way to the drivers side (right hand side UK/Japan and Australia... left hand side for USA/Europe)...

2 ) Open the door and look to the top most section of the B post, to find the Build sticker or where it should be...

3 ) If we are removing a worn/damaged sticker, or a faded sticker, get your hairdryer from the hairdressers mobile kit in the boot, warm/heat up the sticker and peel off slowly not to damage the paint..

4 ) Once the sticker has been removed there will be a sticky residue left. This needs to be cleared away. This also stands for missing stickers. We use 311, IPA, lighter fuel or brake cleaner so that it is clear and clean, ready to apply the new sticker. It is important that the panel is free from dirt, oil or grease to make a bond...

The sticker has been made with a clear laminate. We asked for this so they do not fade with ink removal further down the line. It has been a long road to get to this stage. So, to finally get these to a point of being able to offer these out to help owners with their cars, is a massive relief.

Now just a foot note, from December 2000. The MK 2.5 UK spec MX5 (unsure about left hand drive) stopped having a build sticker and just became a long sticker on the B post of the Vin number only. On the Mk 2.5 JDM versions the stickers remained.

The MK 1 & MK 2 UK spec mx5 special Editions did not have a Grade or special edition letters printed on the stickers. This is because they were shipped over here then sent to a secret location to be kitted out to the editions for sale here. So, do not have an edition mark/stamp from the factory, although we can add the edition if wished which is a nice touch. Some JDM editions, for some reason, also had an unmarked edition on the sticker. As far as we are aware, at the minute (unless someone can show us otherwise) the MK 1 JDM J-ltd did not come with a build sticker. Which I find strange, as well as some early G reg versions. Prove us wrong and get in touch with helping our research!

Now the Editions we are still stuck for are as follows...
------------------------------------------------------------------
Mk1 JDM editions...

J Ltd...
R II Ltd...
SR Ltd...
-------------------------------------------------------------
MK 1 UK editions...

-----------------------------------------------------------------
MK 2 JDM editions...

NR...

----------------------------------------------------------------
MK 2 UK Editions...

Jasper Conran....

----------------------------------------------------------------

MK 2.5 editions...

NR A....
SP...
MV Ltd...
SG Ltd...

Your help with any of the above will help us help many others if needed.
Thank you for your time .
