Alternative Power Supply

Postby blackyb » Mon Feb 19, 2024 11:55 am

Ok, so just dreaming about what I would like to do if I had the time, the money but more importantly the skill to make an MX5 different from the rest.

I've seen various body styles, seating and ICE but what about the power plant.

I know that Mick Longstaff planted a Rover V8 in one of his a while back, but I'd be tempted with either a V6 or a rotary.

So what is the general feeling of my fellow Menders.
1993 1.6 Eunos Roadster (gone)
1998 UK Mk 2 1.6 (gone)
2003 1.8 SVT Sport (shouldnt have sold it)
1991 1.6 Eunos Roadster with a bit of bling.

Life is a journey, best travelled topless in an MX5!!

The V6 as been done and a subframe can be gotten easily from Claire at crap engineering , yes thats the name and she is ace, Now personally I would always go for the bigger engine than boosting, as you gain for more with less strain.
But you have a V8 and V12 also, anything will fit if you want it to.
AAA batteries is just not and never will be an option, it does not float my boat and never will, i get it , it's just not for me ...

Bigger engine every time if its about power and keeping character and feel.
