braided hose for eunos roadster / mk1

Postby EunosPilot » Mon Apr 15, 2019 12:55 am

I am just about the revamp the brakes on the eunos - new discs / pads /fluid etc. I was thinking of swapping out the brake hose also, mostly because I suspect the hose on the car is the original 28 year old lines.

I have read a couple of times in forums/review that some of the braided lines sold are too short on the front ( goodridge keep coming up ) and will be very tight when the car is on full lock - is there any truth to this or are these problems just a case of poor installation ?

The hoses will still be fine, but as for the goodridge braided, never had an issue, the 2.5 so called large sports brakes need a longer line at the front, but you can order that kit for that brake set up also, there are other makes also like hel brake lines, which you can get in many different colours.
They do give a better direct feel to the brakes pushing fluid to the caliper pots, but on a road car for summer dry hay days they are not needed, if it is a piece of mind thing, then swap them, just a word of warning, just be mind full if you have ABS fitted, the last thing you want is air in the pump.

Thanks for the response - yes, just hay days at the moment. It is just piece of mind - when I did the cam belt last spring, most of rubber under the bonnet was perished and cracked so I am checking/replacing all the rubber components as I go . I suspect that very little if any maintenance has been done over the years

The body seemed to be sound when I bought it ( no rusty panels / rear quarters ) and I have kept the original paintwork ( fades and all ). I bought the wheels 2nd hand , ready media blasted, from a guy in Portsmouth who had just sold his MX5 and finished then in silver and satin lacquer. Some interior work also in 2016/2017 and now looks like this

With the 32" momo and the auto pedals , I can just about get all 6'4" me in to drive comfortably :-D .

The engine was a different story - I was chasing coolant leaks for over a year so last year decided to bite the bullet and tackle the water pump and cam belt and what I found of endless rusty pipe work ( inside and out ) and a badly scored crank bearing surface.

Still some help for this forum and others, and parts from autolink , and the car is looking like this today - much better.

So brakes and shocks to sort out next , along with the gearbox and diff oil change ( I wonder if it has an LSD ... ) . Aircon is broken ( pump is leaking ) so will need a full overhaul . Lots to do, which is good
