To-do list advice pls

Postby Ebod » Sun Nov 05, 2017 3:39 pm

Hi all,
A few things planned for my MK2.
-Ally rad got..need to fit.
-HID kit to buy , thanks to M-m for recommendation on type.

OK now for bits I need advice on :-
- car been stored outside a month and just noticed it's front o/s caliper sticking again. Last year I cleaned up the old unit and fitted a new piston/seal kit but clearly that's not worked out well. Would you only ever buy a pair...or single?
Anyone recommend a cheap...but not sh1t source for whole caliper/slider kits?

- my 5 suffers from a choked up petrol filler. I believe there is a design prob with the plastic flap down the pipe that acts as a non-refundable valve. Can the existing flap be filed down to operate better...or do I need to source a replacement?

Cheers

Sounds like either the h/brake cable or the h/brake arm at the caliper sticking, no need to change them in pairs..
You need a fuel filler butterfly off an import buddy.

OK cheers, but its deffo front o/s caliper, not a handbrake issue. Its got a smokey disc and a warm alloy. Noted about no necessity to replace in pairs, but I'm dubious on ebay sourcing after being burned on a few other crap choices ( eg radiator ), so just wanted recommended source for an o/s caliper with sliders that wouldn't come back to bite me in 12 months time..

Re fuel valve, assume that these are pretty rare. Any more tips on sourcing?, i.e. commonality with other mks or even other mazdas. ( did rather hope that a bit of filing down and general tweaking the original valve would make it function better )
