What 15" wheels?

Postby jools182 » Tue Jul 10, 2012 6:48 pm

I have just got some 15" OZ Polaris for my mk2

They suit the car pretty well I think, but they feel heavy

Anyone got any suggestions for 15" lightweight wheels?

Well that's a tough one......

You need and they'll be quite expensive:

- Watanabe (very rare in 15", 14" are more common)
- Wedsports
- Genuine BBS Wheels from a MK1 are light BUT they must be genuine ones (there are both 14" and 15")...

If you buy anything else you need to be careful with the offset and centre spigot size.

And tyre choice can change the weight more significantly than you think!!!

The thing with rims, is that there are so many to choose from, it's like going to pick a watch?
To be honest most of the time (and i am sure a few others will agree?) it is a personal thing on what you like,Persoanally i like the BBS(which i have 2 sets) rims because they are a play on the look of the old spoke wheels and they are light, you can fit the VW BBS wheels to an MX so give more options on sizes that you like, i also like the OE 7 spoke jobbies(which i also have 3 sets here, one set the chrome ones) ,as i thing they look right and are light and strong , but they were only made as 14" rims, i also like the looks and had many different sets of the SSR rims(which i have 2 sets here) which come in all sizes.
It comes down to personal choice and what you like, as they will be picked for a look also.
I don't think this helps you out on choice and picking a set, but just maybe something else to think about to make picking easier?
