Got around to "fixing" my brake discs! Took a flap wheel to them. Sort of DIY skimming took the minor scoring out of the and delipped them too. And best of all it worked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdMFpuLCcxA

I actually used a 40 grit followed by an 80 then a 120. Took front disc off and put it on the back to get it spinning. Had to use spacers when I flipped the disc the right way to stop fowling the back plate.

Not today, but last week.
1) Finally tracked down the annoying metallic rattle when I go over any bump, that started shortly after Cobalt exhaust fitted. It was a rear brake pad rattling in the caliper. Quick fixed, by bending the "audible brake wear indicator" bracket round to take up the slack without restricting movement.
2) MOT'd, straight through, no advisories.

Well a good news bad news sort of fettling day

Good news, New exhaust fitted and sounds great :handgestures-thumbup:

Bad news, Had to take it to friendly local garage as the rain was so bad some guy called Noah was asking directions :sad-darkcloud:

Good news, glad I did as the problems they had removing the bolts made me not feel so bad (every bolt bar one snapped, and these guys are good guys) :

More good news, while there they helped me remove the wing mirror bolts that were giving me problems :bow-blue:

bad news, found out why they were so difficult to get out....they had been glued there! because? yes you guessed it if you know the history of my car, it was yet another bodge.

why glued?
more bad news, both mirror bases had previously broken at some point (see below) and they had done this bodge to hide the evidence :angry-cussingblack:

Time to hit up autolink methinks

Mirrors dismantled, cleaned and new bolts etc fitted. Prepped and sprayed the mirror base cover and the whole lot refitted. They adjust like silk now but noticed a small crack in the old base cover.

So looks like next weekend is a bit more spraying :)

Finished the electric window conversion on my wife's MK2.
Drivers door window now electric, with the correct door card, passenger side door card to follow. I also managed to get a MK2.5 window switch, with the drivers side auto function, fitted and working. You just have to reverse all the wires in the connector that plugs into the switch unit. The connector comes apart really easily without damage, so it's quite a quick mod.

Removed the Adaptronic ECU, MAP sensor, intake temp sensor and all associated wiring and the 550cc RC injectors and fitted standard injectors (thanks again Wayne).
Almost finished now. Just need to get the charcoal canister plumbed back in... if I can remember where all the pipes go.
