And its foooooo#.

Drops to less than 9volts on cranking so new battery is required.

Surprisingly I have discovered that the one fitted is a Eurocar parts, Drive Master sealed battery and its lasted over 10yrs.

Good news is no rot or any signs of corrosion under the battery.

However a OEM Panasonic will be going in.

Just hope Santa can call in on his way back if not then it's the Easter Bunny.

We have just finish giving all ours a winter boost, all 6 batteries.... :-D :handgestures-thumbup:

Not really what i have done to her , but i have a MK 1 1.6 here with a running issue ,which is on the inlet, so dug out a full inlet to swap out so i can test it on her and pressure test the inlet i think is at fault once her, so did a deep clean on my tester , and well you know how it goes, ended up stripping it all down, wire brushing ,sanding etc good wipe down with brake cleaner ,painted everything and rebuilt it with copper grease and red rubber grease, and on build up after everything was done and away , i found a 10mm bolt i missed, grrrrrrrrr, it was like a kick in the n*ts, it will niggle me now until i sort it , and then also change the devil hose clips for some newer ones, my good lady asked why i had gone into so much detail when it was a "tool" for testing with, its clean for use and i know it works, and "why not".
So i will now be doing another Seven ready for testing with , as these get older different issues are showing up, so makes sense for me to do so and have them sat on a shelf ready with all the other testers when the diagnostic reader tells me nothing as in this case and many others i have had to deal with..

Finally got down to it, and spent the day under the MX today. What fun!

Recent rear new pads and discs were all well and good, but I knew something was still up at the back. I could hear rubbing. So off with the calliper and took to bits. The handbrake arm on the calliper was in a bad way. Well, the slide pin about which it pivots was. Dry, corroded, full of crap in there. So I rubbed it all down with v fine emery, eschewing red rubber grease, I went for the normal grease and put lots in. Spot of red rubber grease near the rubber seal grommet thingy.

Everything put back together, greased where needed, copper grease where needed, and all tightened up.

Works brilliantly again. V happy. But am aware that the caliper will have to be replaced at some point in the not-too distant future.

Then to the front, where a 'clonk' on braking whilst turning was bothering me. Bottom bolt that secures the shock in place was getting loose. Glad I checked that. So then went around and checked all bolts right round the suspension, and I was pleased that that was a one off. A split pin was missing from one castle nut, so put one in.

Then the engine cover off the bottom to find out what the dickens is leaking all over the place. It is definitely the steering rack but nothing obvious. So I cleaned it all up and will check in a few days to see what's what. Also refitted the steering rack boot which had come adrift (MOT fail, that one...)

I saw other things whilst under. A proper engine day or two is needed at some point. Belts, water pump, gaskets etc. I am trying not to think about this.

Slightly relieved about the brake though; I was afraid I would find nothing wrong with the brake caliper and then have to go down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out what was wrong. Main suspects would have been handbrake cable and brake hose. of course, but that is happily avoided for now.

Took it for it's MOT. Passed! :-D Tester wasn't happy that it still has the Japanese speedo dial face with km/h only, but couldn't find anything in the rules to fail it so recorded it as a 'minor defect'

It shouldn't be listed as a minor defect. All a speedometer has to do is firstly work and secondly record the distance travelled.
