Dave
Why don't you start a proper build thread buddy, so everything is in one place than you losing it all in different pages and threads.

Finally fitted my Cobalt back box and new center section. Sounds better, now!
Had to cut and drill out a stainless stud, because it had been cut before, leaving about 2 threads to put the nut on.
Also, whilst the car was up in the air, un-bolted the bottom of the front wing to clear out mud & leaves, then rust kill, before it gets bad.

Continued the fight against rust!
Took out the wheel arch liner, cleaned out the leaves and dirt. Undone the bottom of the wing, rubbed down rust, treated and painted wing and sill. Fortunately only surface rust. Second side done, now.
If you've got a spare few hours, well worth doing, before it's too late.

refurbished the upper & lower gearshift boots and all other parts whilst there, well and truly needed. Shifts like a dream now! Easy to do and we'll worth it as parts reasonable!

Finally got that pesky de threaded lower wishbone to bottom of shocker bolt out, threads in the captive nut were fine, it was the threads on the bolt itself that had been errr!! erased.

Booked in for four wheel alignment to see if I can get a satisfactory ride/handling combination on the mk2 suspension.

Finally got round to getting the wheel alignment done to the Mazdamender settings. Soon as I got it done, my son has taken the car away for a week and a half, so not yet tested. Also changed the gearbox and diff oil. G'box looked good even after all this time, diff looked black after a change last year.

Got my LED headlights fitted 3000 lumen per side. 6000k colour temp. They actually perform well, heard all the stories of poor cutoff and bright but not good range. Mine are great! Don't think pics will help as in this instance the camera does lie!

Converted the passenger door to an electric window. I will do both doors eventually, but having received a switch and n/s regulator I couldn't resist making a start. Very easy job, just plug and play, all the wiring already in place from manufacture. I put a grommet in the door card for now, whilst I decide whether or not to fit face-lift door cards or stick with the original mk2 style.

Took the little girl for her annual health check (MOT) pass with no advisories.

The MOT technician says she puts a load of newer cars to shame, music to my ears.

What have you done to your MX5 today/yesterday?

Postby flea » Thu Aug 18, 2016 4:22 pm

Went over to Ian's AKA Rising Sun. Striped down the rear breaks on The Zsport & while we were at it took all the bulkhead off from behind the seats to sort out the common rattle these mk's get.Image
Showing all the panels off & pointing out said culprit. The bottom section of this plastic section vibrates against the floor.

Small bit of soundproofing glued & put underneath it & problem solved Image

Thanks for your help Ian. not forgetting the bacon sandwiches & cups of coffee from your lovely Jane

It was done faster than I thought but that was probably due to RS having already removed all of his previously so helped loads. Cheers buddy
