That was why I stumped up for this one. A mate did get me a different one that fitted but was neither vented or sealed so passed.

Hmmph, OK so I haven't looked at my battery for four years because its sealed so feeling guilty and having it go flat once or twice over winters gone by I had a look at it just now and found a broken earth strap that had been bodged before I got him. So my question is do I cut it where it meets the body and add a short new strap or do I have to get a full one? Seems like a full one would be a tad excessive and not to say expensive, waddya think peeps?

The break isn't new and its been cleaned up. There was a small washer jammed into it to make a contact, can't say I'm impressed.

Oh, and a brief update:

After some looking around I decided to give my Mazda dealer a call, which is where I bought the family car and my folks their mk3 mx5. I trust them but I was slightly put off by the reputation of how expensive dealer parts can be.

Well, I'm clearly an idiot. Just got the Panasonic OEM battery for under £100. It was not expensive anyway, and then the bloke gave me a totally random 10% discount. Which was nice.

So, thank you TW Whites of Orpington. Nice one. :handgestures-thumbup:

Has the Bosch got breathing tubes etc, out of interest, Lazza?

The new battery is brilliant and I just wish I got it in the first bloody place. Still, live and learn, eh?

Sorry for dragging this thread back up but it's helped a lot.

I need a new battery now as my WestCo battery is losing the charge to turnover within the day at 2 and a half years old.

A new panasonic is £111 from MX5Parts, and a new Lion is £107 from CP4L, so much of a muchness. Which is the best battery to buy if there's no price difference?
