Hi All,

Introduction Time and just to say hello

Im a big Jaguar fan (Founded and own http://www.xj40.com) but 8yrs ago I bought my wife her Mk3.5 and then the bug bit........

I bought my own Mk4 back in Nov 2015 and then we bought a Mk2.5 Indiana in Feb of this year.

The Mk3.5 is a daily driver, the Mk4 a weekend car and the Indiana is stored away.....

Welcome. Nice xj40 website. I have a, x300 xjr and used to frequent the Jaguar forums. Mazda Menders has been invaluable to me in keeping my mk2.5 roadworthy. I have to say I'd rather change wheelbearings on the Jag than on the mx5. However, that's about the only job I'd take over the 5. Hope you enjoy this site as much as me.

Hi Newby mk1 mx5 owner here, from Warrington. I am going on a road trip around Europe at the beginning of May. I am after some advice from a long term mk1 mx5 owner, to make sure the car is mechanicaly sound before I set off. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks :confusion-confused:

Well it still seems to sound a bit like a rattle can towards the rear end/ centre gets worse under acceleration and when I put my foot on the clutch it seems to stop. Not sure if it's drive train, clutch, spigot bearing or exhaust I'd just be guessing really. So just looking to see if there was a business or person local and knowledgeable about mx5s who could help diagnose it.

Sounds like a spigot bearing or release bearing.
I am not to far, just a couple of junctions up in Wiganshire.

It would be really helpful if you was able to have a listen/look see whether it is okay for a 4500mile trip. I have to reply on here as it won't let me email. :text-thankyouyellow:

Hi I was planning on doing the clutch this week on my mx5, but due to work I am unable to get the time off and I leave for my road trip Friday. Are there any recommended garages near Warrington and how much would I be looking at cost to fit a supplied clutch? I
