A cure for the problem, remember that later MK2's and MK2.5's did not have it fitted.
I was removing the hood skin, so i did this at the same time, you DO NOT NEED to remove the hood to do this.....

The kill/cut out switch in place on the passenger side

Unplug and remove the screw from the switch which loops the earth.

As you can see all the trim is off which makes it easier to see, this can all be done by just removing the rear deck carpet only, there is NO NEED to remove all the trim and hood/hood frame.

Next cut the two earth loop wires.

Strip the plastic wire coat back.

Solder the wires together for best strong result and cover in heat shrink or electrical tape.

Tape up the extra back into the loom.
