Mx-5 Mk 2/2.5 electric window reg fix[tech heavy]

Postby Mazda Mender » Sun Mar 08, 2015 12:56 pm

This is a common fault with the MK 2/2.5 Mx-5/Roadster/Miata,when the cable fixing lug becomes adrift from the inner door skin and then acts as a brake, symptoms are ....as you try to let down your window it will only go down a inch or so and stop solid and you will only be able to rise it back that inch or so.

This is a simple and easy fix.....

So remove the door card and the membrane to look and feel for the lug which will be in the middle towards the top and pop it back through the inner door skin...

Spread the wings of the lug back out again...

Now this is not the end of the story as we do not want this to happen again any time soon ,so you will need these bad boys...

Thread the rip tie/cable tie through the wings of the lug...

Personally i would take the opportunity to spray the channels, cables etc of the mech with silicon lube spray top and bottom,(hellfauds own brand is by far the best i have used, and i have tried many makes) and give the lock, latch and handle a blast with it

Then all you need to do is press the membrane back on to the black goop seal, refit the door card, and smile in with a fix well done that would have cost you sh*t loads at a dishonest garage/dealership.

Total cost...your time..30mins and a rip tie/cable tie.
