Headlamp wiper rubber flap installation

Postby GlennyGills » Tue Jul 02, 2019 6:35 pm

Following a quick look over of my car by Mazdamender, it was pointed out that my car had lost the headlamp wiper rubber flap.
I have put together what I thought was a quick 5 minute job to replace them.
No tools are required.

First job - pop up the headlamps
Here you can see that there are three holes in a row were something should fit.

(Please ignore the missing 10mm bolts for the front bumper- next job)

There should be two rubber flaps here.. (https://www.autolinkmx5.com/headlamp-wi ... 9135-p.asp).
Don't forget to order the associated clips. (https://www.autolinkmx5.com/clip-headla ... 7198-p.asp).

When placing the flap into position be aware that there is a lip under which the flap fits. (Sorry the picture is not brilliant)

Put the flaps in place and push home the three plastic clips

Word of caution here,
I suggest you order one or two extras. Once these clips are in place they are there for good. Just look at the barbs that stop the clips coming out.

I put the first flap in then decided it should have gone in on the other side as it was cleaner. I ended up removing the headlamp covers to try and squeeze the barbs together.
I suggest that you buy new clips everytime you try and remove any old in position clips.
