Re: Mazda 16" Sport Alloy refurb

Given the recent development on the sill I have sold the wheels to help fund the impending repair bill...
Thanks for all the support to encourage me to attack the wheels, it was much appreciated.

Re: Rust - Repair or replace...?

I will give them a call, it is not too much of a hike to get there and trains are possible nearby.

Will see what they say for the cost of a repair.

Like their site Laguna Blues featuring!

Re: Rust - Repair or replace...?

The value of the car thing is not so much an issue, just down to seeing some very cheap 5s change hands in the past few months, the market for mk1s seems utterly flattened and it does beg the question why keep just one when you can just keep throwing them away ( and amass the nice bits on the way), ...

Re: Mazda 16" Sport Alloy refurb

Hi Skuzzle, yes standard wheels with what's left of original coating, a strong brush is taking a lot of it off anyway - the coating is detaching easily in many places.

Re: Mazda 16" Sport Alloy refurb

I am thinking about doing them myself.
I am not in a rush to have them back on the car and I guess I can make them the colour of my choosing

Just wondering about how best to strip them back, I suppose liters of nitromors will do the job?

Mazda 16" Sport Alloy refurb

I have a set of wheels that are looking a bit tatty, paint flaking and a bit of corrosion, but never been kerbed so in decent condition. Question what is the best way forward, powder coat or overhaul and respray. I'd appreciate some views if any have experience, I have read plenty about trouble with...

Rusty and dusty

Just been speaking to the guys at Autolink and they have pointed me over to join the forum, looks like a useful resource and group so I'd like to say Hi, before I ask the dumb questions. Based up in Scotland and have a slowly rusting but low mileage 1995 1.8is in Laguna blue. She has been off the ro...
