Re: Compressor check
I have a feeling clutch is knackered as it’s continously spinning I’m sure it shouldn’t spin all the time only when ac is on? Nah the pulley is always spinning and the compressor only turns when the clutch is engaged. One can put 12V onto the clutch wire to check if it engages. But if it does don’t...

Just did. And found out the screw was partially broken (when it broke off completely). Replaced, tensioned again, problem gone.

Jolting power steering
Feels like a slipping belt to me, since it disappears after a while. Mostly.
It only behaves when there's an important effort to provide (car not moving). Plus turning the AC off seems to alleviate the problem.

Jolting power steering
It's been a few days now : right after ignition, when leaving my parking space, I noticed the power steering would jolt. Steering is harder than usual, then it kicks in, and again. I'm talking short jolts, like 2-3 times a second maybe. It mainly happens when the wheels are almost completely turned,...

However, the ID8C chips that can be programmed into the Mazda without a programmer and with a combination of ignition turns (and two other keys) are nowhere to be found.

Re: Air con problem
Any development ?
I was thinking that if the magnetic clutch failed then the compressor probably has been working while it shouldn't have. Over pressure and freezing come to mind.
I would have the complete aircon checked.

Adding remote central locking to K Mk2 1.8iS
I chose to buy a passenger side latch for my driver's door. Just get it from a country where the wheel is on the correct side 8-) As a result, I was able to reuse two of the three wires to the solenoid. The wiring is out there somewhere. I mean the factory wiring. On a side note, I think my driver s...

Re: first mx5 is a NB10AE
There's one one thing. My wiper fluid tank is on top of the sports exhaust manifold. And it's too hot in there. It seems that the 00 and later cars got a tank on the other side : http://gtcarlot.com/data/Mazda/MX-5+Miata/1999/36479645/Engine-79268100.html Is it an easy swap ? I have to go have a loo...

There's such a thing as a bad o-ring. I replaced all the rings but one of the replacements was a bit too thick.
They located the leak and replaced the faulty o-ring. And I happily froze my ass off riding back home.
