Mk1 dash lights

Dash lights behind Speed and rev dials etc currently come on with headlights. Is there any way to keep them on, at full brightness regardless of headlight use/settings?

Blown headlight, retaining ring screws stripped

As per the title, I had a blown headlight and got the replacement set from autolink. Came to replace glass housing and found one retaining ring screw was stripped on each side. No worries, I thought, I'll sort it sometime, I thought. Then today, the other one went as well, awkward. So I had no headl...

Re: Head unit and 12v/cigar

Have had the head unit out since this post, and wired in an additional 2 port USB doofery thing and not popped a fuse yet. I think it may be the head unit as well. I'm planning a tablet conversion (at some point) with fresh wiring, so hopefully this will end these *ahem* fusetrating circumstances. ;)

Re: Head unit and 12v/cigar

Fit it myself (it's worked fine in 3 previous cars), using two harness adapters from halfrauds. And they is the head unit and 12v outlet. They seemed to cut out over potholes and train tracks.

Re: Head unit and 12v/cigar

All I can think is a new head unit, which worked fine for around 6 months. I think they cut out when I hit a big pothole.

Head unit and 12v/cigar

So. Head unit keeps blowing fuses, and my 12 volt doesn't work. Are they likely related? And can I fix one without the other? I can disassemble the dash (to get a look at wires) and I have a relatively versatile multi-meter...can anyone point me in vaguely the right direction? Is there any more info...

Re: Intermittent Stalling

Can happen with clutch depressed or when in neutral. Could it be a battery problem? My battery is a standard lead-acid and looks to be leaking/old/crappy.

Intermittent Stalling

Hi all. I have a '93 1.6. She starts every time, hot/cold doesn't matter. Once up to temp, however, she'll (intermittently) start dropping revs to barely turning, or even flat stalling. On the same stretch between traffic lights, can stall twice at the first set, and be fine at the second. Seems to ...

Re: Headlights

I'm sure it's possible. I thought it would be too, was just curious if anyone else thought it might be practicable. Why would you want to do that? Was day-dreaming at work and was thinking about the headlights. I like designing pointlessly overcomplicated mechanisms... Not sure how happy MoT would ...

Headlights

Just a theroretical... would it be possible to replace the headlight pop-up motors with bike brake style cables passed through the bulkhead to the cabin? I'm curious...

Let me know if none of that made sense and I'll try maybe drawing a pretty picture.

Squeaky clutch

Squeaky clutch. Hot or cold, doesn't matter. Neutral or 70mph, doesn't matter. Doesn't seem to change pitch with engine speed. Only thing that makes a difference is where the clutch pedal is. If it's depressed to just before it starts slipping then the squeaking stops entirely. Anyone any thoughts a...

Re: Bonnet Reinforcing Skin Connection

I'd say about 50% of the joints were loose. However, the bonnet doesn't move excessively if I lean on the top skin when closed. I didn't think it would be a major problem, but better safe than sorry and all that jazz. If I did decide to do something about it, should I just clean the old glue out and...
