Re: Handbrake againnnnn!,,,

I recently, all summer, have been refurbishing and replacing lots of worn parts etc on the underside of the car and in the engine. I spent three days on and off trying to sort out the handbrake on my car. Eventually I took both the angled brackets of the calipers to check if there was anything wrong...

Last wednesday it was at its lowest yet, £ 0.72M . I bet the two winners who shared the prize were a bit dissapointed that...

Re: Low output from heater

If your car is a Mk1 then like mine it is probably clogged up all sorts of nasties. I am going to replace mine when I have some spare cash but I never seem to have enough spare as they are very expensive.

Was the belt you fitted a OEM belt or an inexpensive copy? OEM belts are best, Copies can be rubbish.

The cost of using our cumunity tip

Our local council has decided that taking rubble and plaster boards to our local tip is not household waste anymore, even tho' contractors do pay to tip their rubbish. Our parrish council have recieved a letter from some numpty in the council that they will now charge house holders £2.50 for so many...

Re: Alloy door mirrors on a mk1

Did you ever find any alloy door mirrors for your Mk1, As I think I still have the ones I used to have on my Mk1. They are a little bit smaller than the "proper" ones but if you are interested let me know.

Re: Wanted a bit of advice on metal turning lathes

Hi, FWIW I'd be looking for a Colchester or a Harrison as they're good quality and so long as you can inspect it first (assuming you're looking at used, not new!) you should get good kit for a reasonable price. When you say currently 12" I'm assuming you're talking bed length, not chuck!(?) Th...

Wanted a bit of advice on metal turning lathes

I am trying to make a decision as to which bench model metal turning lathe to buy. Being an amateur as far as lathes are concerned I am considering a variable speed type. Does anyone have any greater knowledge than me about lathes they may own or have owned. Anything to watch out for, or rubbish mak...

Re: Thermostat to engine coolant pipe

I had a similar idea, to tap out the hole in the engine block and then turn up a brass fitting with threads on so it can be screwed into the block with some sealant of some kind. At least it should never need to be done again in the cars life time. I might even consider doing the same at the thermos...

Thermostat to engine coolant pipe

How do you repair/mend the corroded steel pipe insert, that fits into the bottom right hand side of the engine block. This insert is very similar to the steel insert that is in the right hand side of the thermostat. The coolant pipe from the thermostat steel insert is connected to the insert on the ...
